To commemorate the 11th anniversary of the late Hon. David Lamptey’s passing, his daughter, Marina Naa Odarley Lamptey, has undertaken a remarkable initiative that speaks volumes about her father’s enduring legacy.
Marina has recently launched the UMI Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to carrying forward her father’s values of unity, mission, and impact.

Women Empowerment Requires Collective Engagement’ - Ms. Marina Lamptey
The CEO of UMI Foundation, Ms. Marina Lamptey, said women empowerment required collective and broader stakeholder engagement of the church and other organisations.
She said although the UMI Foundation had played crucial role towards women empowerment, there was the need for more collaboration to ensure that women were adequately equipped to contribute effectively to the growth and development of the country.
Empowering Women: Inaugural "A Lady with a Dream" Conference Draws Over 600 Participants
Over 600 women took part in the inaugural “A Lady with a Dream” conference, focused on empowering women for excellence and impact, with panelists stressing the importance of mentorship and networking among women.
Marina Lamptey, founder of UMI Foundation and the event’s organizer, said that the conference was a tribute to her late father, David Lamptey, a renowned philanthropist, “I wanted to honour his legacy, he passed away almost 12 years ago, everybody knew him as a philanthropist -so I wanted to bring a lot of women together to help them, to let them know that if it was done for me, I can do it for somebody else.”
